COVID-19 Quick Facts

COVID-19 Quick Tips

Step 1

Wash your hands frequently

Regularly and thoroughly clean your hands with an alcohol-based hand rub or wash them with soap and water.

Why?

Washing your hands with soap and water or using alcohol-based hand rub kills viruses that may be on your hands.

Step 2

Call the Hotline.

If you have a fever, cough and difficulty breathing, seek medical attention and call in advance. Follow the directions of your local health authority.

Why?

National and local authorities will have the most up to date information on the situation in your area. Calling in advance will allow your health care provider to quickly direct you to the right health facility. This will also protect you and help prevent spread of viruses and other infections.

Step 3

Maintain social distancing

Maintain at least 2 metres (6 feet) distance between yourself and other people even those who are not coughing or sneezing. If you are too close, you can breathe in the droplets, including the COVID-19 virus if the person coughing has the disease.

Stay at home

Stay at home if you begin to feel unwell, even with mild symptoms such as headache and slight runny nose, until you recover. Call the hotline if they get worse.

Step 4

Take Care of Yourself & Family

If you must stay at home, maintain a healthy lifestyle - including proper diet, sleep, exercise and social contacts with loved ones at home and by email and phone with other family and friends.

Children may respond to stress in different ways such as being more clingy, anxious, withdrawing, angry or agitated, bedwetting etc. Respond to your child’s reactions in a supportive way, listen to their concerns and give them extra love and attention.
